Challenges Trepidations Debacles
That’s what this past year has been for my family and me. In spite of our tragedies we’re still standing strong.
February 2004 my parents were in an almost fatal car accident doing a snow/ice storm. The accident left my Father in a neck brace until February of this year.
April 2004 my health began to hinder my work. I came down with a sciatic nerve and bulging disk. At times the physical pain has been pretty rough. It has halted some of my work and travels. After almost a year off and seeking medical attention I’m on the mend. The first doctors’ report was that I would need surgery. Hey! Not now. He says my body is healing itself. Still I’m being wise where my health is concerned. My back hasn’t totally healed yet. The key word is “YET.”
June 13, 2004 while my parents were away visiting family and friends their house was totally destroyed by fire. They lost everything except for some glassware. A few days after the fire we learned their insurance company was fraudulent. This was another major set back.
February 2005 while my parents were visiting my sister and her family in North Carolina my Father lost his ability to know himself, anyone and his mobile skills. What was to have been a three day trip ended up being a little over a month because my Father had to be hospitalized. I’m happy to report he’s doing wonderfully now. He’s back to his old sense of funny humor and my Mother is back to telling him what do to do and when again. They’re back to normal except for their house situation. All agree we have encountered what seem to be insurmountable circumstances. As a result of these multiple tragedies, my parents, siblings and my finances are pretty much depleted.
I believe in the goodness and generosity of humanity. So I’m encouraged and filled with hope that together we can rebuild their home. I’ve told my parents, “that I don’t believe God is going to let them leave this earth until they see their things and lives restored.” Will you help? Donations can be made payable to:
